AkzoNobel\u2019s Marine Coatings Business partners with China based Winning Shipping to assist in boosting sustainable maritime coating industry with innovative low carbon operations. The strategic agreement between the giants successfully propel the maritime industry transition to accelerate sustainable shipping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The two giants have been in relations since 2016, and now with the new agreement, that includes that AkzoNobel will supply a significant volume of International Coatings for a drydocking projects in 2026. Focussed on six vessels, it will enhance the fleet\u2019s operational efficiency and environmental performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the core of the latest agreement is Intersleek 1100SR- the world\u2019s first biocide-free fouling control coating to feature patented \u201cslime release\u201d technology. It delivers outstanding fouling control and significantly reduces hull resistance, helping fleets to save fuel and cut greenhouse gas emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the International Maritime Organization\u2019s introduction of emission reduction regulations, shipping companies are addressing their carbon footprint and actively adopting measures to optimize energy efficiency. China is also speeding up the implementation of its \u201cDual Carbon\u201d strategy in the maritime sector, promoting the widespread adoption of more sustainable technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to Intersleek 1100SR, International will also supply the project with its Intercept 8500 LPP antifouling coating, which combines linear polishing with an optimized biocide package. This is the highest performing antifouling product within the International range, specifically designed for deep sea vessels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The agreement was signed during the recent Marintec China 2025 event, one of the world\u2019s leading maritime industry exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
