The transaction, valued at CAD 68 million, including working capital, reflects Canfor’s continued focus on expanding its value-added manufacturing portfolio and diversifying beyond traditional lumber production.

Founded in 2009, PinkWood has established itself as the largest manufacturer of engineered wood I-joists in Western Canada. Operating from its Calgary, Alberta facility, the company produces high-performance engineered wood joists for residential, multi-family, and commercial construction markets. The facility employs approximately 120 people and has an annual production capacity of 46 million linear feet, making it a significant player in Canada’s engineered wood industry.

A strategic investment in value-added manufacturing

The acquisition aligns with Canfor’s long-term strategy of increasing its exposure to higher-value engineered wood products while complementing its existing manufacturing footprint across Western Canada. Engineered wood products continue to experience growing demand as builders seek stronger, more sustainable, and resource-efficient construction materials.

Under the terms of the agreement, Canfor will pay CAD 55 million at closing, with the remaining CAD 13 million to be paid over the next five years. The purchase price represents approximately five times EBITDA based on PinkWood’s current production levels and earnings, including identified operational synergies. Canfor also noted that recent capital investments at the facility provide significant opportunities for future production growth and margin expansion.

Leadership sees strong growth potential

Commenting on the acquisition, Susan Yurkovich, President and CEO of Canfor, described PinkWood as a leading manufacturer with a strong management team and consistent financial performance.

She said the acquisition enhances Canfor’s operations in Western Canada by broadening its product offering and supporting the continued expansion of its value-added manufacturing capabilities. Yurkovich added that integrating PinkWood into the Canfor family will strengthen the company’s existing asset base while creating new opportunities for long-term growth and value creation.

PinkWood to continue operating under its existing brand

Following completion of the transaction, PinkWood will continue operating under its established brand name as a wholly owned subsidiary of Canfor. Maintaining the PinkWood identity is expected to preserve customer relationships and operational continuity while benefiting from Canfor’s broader resources and market reach.

Canfor intends to finance the acquisition through cash on hand and existing liquidity. The transaction is expected to close during the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.

Strengthening Canada’s engineered wood industry

The acquisition underscores the growing importance of engineered wood products within the global construction industry. Products such as I-joists offer improved structural performance, material efficiency, and sustainability compared with conventional framing solutions, making them increasingly attractive for modern residential and commercial building projects.

For Canfor, the addition of PinkWood not only expands its engineered wood product portfolio but also reinforces its broader commitment to producing innovative, low-carbon forest products. With operations spanning Canada, the United States, and Europe, the company continues to invest in technologies and manufacturing capabilities that support sustainable construction and long-term industry growth.

Strategic acquisition of PinkWood strengthens Canfor’s value-added manufacturing capabilities in Western Canada.

[1,4,2,257,289,124
156,466,464,323,22,467,465,468,180,408,92
post-1732","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog","category-wood-design-news","category-featured-news","category-where-wood-industry-innovation-meets-design","category-technology","category-connecting-the-world-of-wood-design-moment","tag-automation","tag-building-innovations","tag-canadian-wood","tag-canfor","tag-design","tag-engineered-wood","tag-paper-and-pulp","tag-pinkwood","tag-sustainable-woodworking","tag-wood-industry","tag-woodworking-innovations
["https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood.jpg",1200,795,false
https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood-150x150.jpg",150,150,true
https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood-300x199.jpg",300,199,true
https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood-768x509.jpg",640,424,true
https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood-1024x678.jpg",640,424,true],"1536x1536":["https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood.jpg",1200,795,false],"2048x2048":["https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood.jpg",1200,795,false
https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood-1024x678.jpg",1024,678,true
https://panelanddesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/pinkwood-540x340.jpg",540,340,true
Blog Design+Paint Featured News Special News and Interview Technology Wood Tech
["GET
