True design begins long before an object takes shape. It starts with the material, the knowledge behind it and the gestures that have shaped it over time. The Medley collection stems from research conducted in the artisan districts of Delhi and Moradabad, India, where metalworking continues to be passed down through generations and preserved by small manufacturing workshops. Observing and reinterpreting this living heritage through a contemporary lens, design curator Concetta Giannangeli creates a collection of readymade pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each object is the result of a dialogue between material, technique and craftsmanship, allowing the making process itself to define its identity. The subtle irregularities of handcraftsmanship are not concealed, but embraced as an integral part of the design, lending authenticity and uniqueness to every piece. A collection that reinterprets manufacturing tradition through a contemporary design sensibility, expressing one of Gervasoni’s founding values: the continuous dialogue between research, craftsmanship and design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Medley 42 and 48 coffee tables reinterpret the essential form of traditional pedestal stands, translating their proportions into a contemporary scale. Crafted in cast aluminium, they feature an acid-etched finish that enhances the textured, tactile quality of the surface. The tabletop becomes an expressive element, where the vibrant finish reveals the craftsmanship behind the making process and celebrates the material’s rich character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crafted from a single block of polished aluminium, Medley 40 explores metal through a pure, sculptural language. The carefully balanced composition of overlapping volumes defines different support levels while maintaining an essential geometric presence. The polished surface reflects light and its surroundings, enhancing the purity of the form and allowing the object to interact dynamically with the space through ever-changing reflections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Featuring a low, conical profile, the Medley 95 and 96 pendant lamps are crafted from woven galvanised steel wire with a galvanic finish. The radial weave expands towards the base, defining a light and transparent structure that filters light while creating subtle visual effects. Inspired by traditional bamboo weaving techniques, the construction itself becomes the defining feature of the design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
