Made to adapt,” the fittings specialist will demonstrate how intelligent furniture technology, movable elements and ergonomic systems can transform modern workplaces.

The future of workplace design is no longer about creating spaces for a single purpose. It is about making every square metre work harder. At ORGATEC 2026, Hettich will demonstrate how adaptable furniture and intelligent movement systems can help offices evolve with changing work patterns, combining flexibility, ergonomics and efficient space utilisation.

Taking place from October 27 to 30 in Cologne, Germany, ORGATEC will provide the platform for Hettich to present its latest thinking under the theme “Adaptive Spaces. Made to adapt.” The showcase builds on the company’s broader “Transforming Spaces” vision, which explores how furniture and interiors can respond to the changing needs of people at work and in everyday life.

As offices increasingly accommodate a mix of collaborative meetings, focused individual work and informal interactions, adaptable interiors are becoming an important consideration for architects, interior designers, property developers and workplace planners. Hettich aims to address these demands through integrated fittings technology, intelligent motion systems and planning support.

RoomSpin brings flexibility to office interiors:

A key highlight of Hettich’s presentation will be RoomSpin, a system designed to change how spaces are configured and used. Through rotating furniture elements, the system allows a room to shift quickly between different functions without requiring a permanent reconfiguration. The approach highlights the potential of intelligent furniture fittings to support multifunctional interiors, particularly where space efficiency and adaptability are essential. Hettich’s scalable SpinLines turning and swivelling systems can be used to develop space-saving solutions across a range of interior applications.

A connected approach to workplace design:

Hettich will collaborate with Actiforce and KUHN, members of the Hettich Network, to present a more integrated approach to adaptive office environments.

The showcase will combine acoustic elements made from iswall®, a felt-like sound-absorbing material, with KUHN’s LAYERS interior design system. Canopy ceilings, wall panels, partitions and curtain elements will demonstrate how workplaces can be organised to support communication while creating quieter zones for concentration.

Ergonomics will also feature prominently. Actiforce will present height-adjustable desks and its new SF 1050 TILT desk support, which allows users to adjust both desktop height and tilt angle to suit individual working preferences. The TILT system has been certified by Aktion Gesunder Rücken e.V., Germany’s Campaign for Healthier Backs.

Designing spaces for changing needs:

Hettich’s ORGATEC showcase reflects a wider shift in interior design towards spaces that can accommodate changing activities rather than remain dedicated to a single function. For architects, furniture manufacturers and interior designers, such solutions offer new possibilities for making better use of available floor space while balancing privacy, collaboration, acoustics and comfort.

By bringing furniture movement systems, acoustic solutions and ergonomic workplace products together, Hettich and its network partners aim to demonstrate how adaptable design can become a practical part of contemporary office planning.

Visitors will also be able to discuss their own projects and ideas with the Hettich team during the exhibition.

Event details

– Event: ORGATEC 2026

– Dates: October 27–30

– Venue: Koelnmesse, Cologne, Germany

– Hettich stand: Hall 7.1, Stand E-028

– Exhibition theme: Adaptive Spaces.
