Con-Vey is proud to announce their winning of the 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 from the Roseburg Area Chamber Commerce for the newly patented Edge-Damming System, a first-of-its-kind advancement in automated plywood panel repair. Shaping the future of plywood production primarily Con-Vey faces tough challenges but comes up with creative solutions that leads to Award-winning for the patented Edge-Damming System, a breakthrough technology in plywood manufacturing.

The system introduces an automated method to repair panel edge defects after trimming—without interrupting production. Using a specialized belt and targeted heating, the process enables real-time, in-line repairs, significantly improving efficiency compared to traditional manual methods.

Industry experts have praised the innovation for addressing a long-standing challenge in wood product manufacturing. By allowing continuous production flow, the system reduces labor requirements, minimizes material waste, and enhances overall product quality.

Developed in collaboration with manufacturing and engineering partners, the Edge-Damming System has already been successfully deployed in operational facilities, with additional installations planned due to strong performance results.

The award highlights Con-Vey’s role in advancing automation and efficiency in the engineered wood sector, reinforcing its position as a key innovator in industrial manufacturing technology.

This visionary project started with a challenge from RoyOMartin, assessing, how do you repair plywood panels after final trim (all the way to the edge) without slowing down production? And it is this challenge to simplify the process, pushed the team to think differently and engineer something entirely new.

The result was the development of the unique Edge-Damming System: a one-of-a-kind solution that helps manufacturers reduce waste, improve repair quality, and keep production moving through in-line edge sealing and rapid curing.

Edge-Damming System wins laurels for successfully solving real manufacturing challenges through creativity, collaboration, and persistence.

The award was presented during the Chamber’s 71st Annual Meeting of the Membership & Awards Luncheon, held Monday, March 16 at the Community Conference Hall of the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

“Repairing to the end of the panel poses challenges, because the chemical needs to get hard enough that it won’t run out of the defect that’s been removed. Con-Vey said they could figure it out, and we’ve never had to do it any other way, so I’d say it was a success.”

Beyond the performance gains achieved at RoyOMartin, the Edge-Damming System has drawn industry-wide recognition — earning EWTA’s 2025 Innovation of the Year Award and the 2025 Excellence in Business Innovation Award from the Roseburg Area Chamber of Commerce. The honour celebrates Con-Vey’s commitment to solving complex challenges through collaboration and forward-thinking engineering.
